Tomorrow through Saturday March 28 sees Louisville, KY hosting the Mid-America Trucking Show at the Kentucky Expo Center in the city. It's a huge event and organizers are expecting possible record attendance this year. In all, more than 1,000 exhibitors will feature the latest products from the sector, read more about the exhibition at truckinginfo.com or visit the official site

A very interesting article explores the potential for dramatic changes over the coming years in the landscape that trucking and transportation companies operate within particularly for shippers. The full story over at JOC.com courtesy of William Cassidy reporting from the Transportation and Logistics Council’s 41st annual conference. He explores a number of changes that may lead to added costs and complexity being faced by shippers looking to move freight due to revisions that impact regulations, legalities, and cost. Definitely worth a read.

Hot shot trucking newsA remote, poorly planned and barely used park and ride lot in Northern California may soon be repurposed and put to good use. The location near Manteca, CA outside of Sacramento on Highway 99 near Interstate 5 has been recommended for conversion to a trucking rest and parking location to alleviate the pressure on existing nearby regional rest stops that are full at the best of times and offer no haven for truckers. Follow the full story at truckinginfo.com

Highway funding stories continue to dominate the news at both the local, regional and federal levels in recent weeks as solutions are sought almost around the clock. Breaking news on Monday from Minnesota shows that the state isn't going to wait and see what Washington decides to do and has approved a $7 billion plan on Monday to upgrade Minnesota's roads and bridges that would tap into the state's budget surplus, changes taxes and borrows funds from the state's treasury.

Changes to I-10 in Baton Rouge, LA are afoot with the addition of a brand new interchange at Pecue Lane just southeast of the city. The new interchange is being added to help relieve major congestion in the area which will be great news for interstate truckers but has residents concerned about the impact to their neighborhood.

Space limits me from writing about so much of the breaking news in the oil and gas sector and the hot shot trucking that supports those industries but I'll be back soon with a summary of some of those stories also. We appreciate you reading/sharing the blog and we welcome your comments or suggestions for other stories. You can also follow us on TwitterFacebook or LinkedIn for daily updates.
