Oil Prices slightly up this morning on the same day that key job data in the US is being released. For domestic oil production business there is of course huge attention paid to cost and global demand forecasts all of which impacts the hot shot trucking industry. World oil prices nudged higher with North Sea crude for delivery in December rising 17 cents to $83.03 a barrel around midday in London. Read more at Yahoo News.
Class 8 Truck Orders enjoyed a remarkable set of results in October marking the second highest ever recorded in a single month. With just over 45,000 tractors ordered in October this marked an 87% increase over the previous month's orders. US Natural Gas reported increased productivity for the 10th consecutive month while simultaneously setting new records for output. The October results were 7.9 higher year-on-year, for the full report head over to UPI.
This just in, we've just learned that the transportation sector gained 13,000 jobs in October in conjunction with the national unemployment rate falling to it's lowest levels in more than six years per the Department of Labor. Bureau of Labor Statistics reported 4,664,100 jobs in transportation in October versus 4,650,800 in September. Full information available at TheHill.com.
Salina, KS is looking to create a professional truck driving institute to help allay growing concerns about the increasing driver shortage in the nationwide trucking sector. At present the organization is seeking $30,000 seed investment to bring the idea to reality, read more at Biz Journal.
North Carolina becomes the latest state to add weigh station bypass services. Drivewyze PreClear bypass service has now been added in North Carolina, making it the 30th state to provide mobile-based weigh station bypass service. Initially users will be able to start receiving bypasses this month at three locations on U.S. Interstates 40 and 95 in the Tar Heel State and more locations are set to be added.
